New Clinical Study Published: BrainPatch Demonstrates Potential in Reducing Stress, Anxiety, and Depression

BrainPatch is proud to announce the publication of a new peer-reviewed clinical study titled “Effectiveness of Threshold-Level Vagus Nerve Stimulation in Modulating Psychoemotional States” in the journal Clinical and Preventive Medicine (2026, Issue 2).

The study, conducted in collaboration with international academic and clinical partners, explores how individualized, threshold-level transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation (taVNS) can support emotional regulation and reduce the impact of everyday stress.

Key Findings

The research involved a series of seven neuromodulation sessions using the BrainPatch e-Meditation® device, combining gentle electrical stimulation with relaxing audio. Participants were assessed using validated psychological scales measuring stress, anxiety, depression, and emotional state.

The results demonstrate:

  • Significant reduction in depression symptoms (–65% on average)
  • Reduction in generalized anxiety (–52%)
  • Decrease in situational anxiety levels
  • Improvement in emotional balance, with:
    • decreased negative affect (–56%)
    • increased positive affect (+105%)
  • Early onset of benefits, with noticeable improvements after just three sessions

Importantly, the stimulation was reported as safe, well-tolerated, and comfortable, with no serious adverse effects.

A Personalized Approach to Neuromodulation

One of the central innovations of the study is the use of individual threshold-based stimulation, where intensity is tailored to each user’s perception level. This approach allows BrainPatch technology to:

  • maximize effectiveness
  • minimize discomfort
  • adapt to individual neurophysiology

The findings support the hypothesis that personalization is ключевым фактором эффективности VNS, especially in non-invasive applications.

Implications

With rising global levels of stress, anxiety, and burnout — and a significant portion of individuals not responding to traditional treatments — non-pharmacological solutions are becoming increasingly important.

This study reinforces BrainPatch’s position as a promising, scalable, and user-friendly tool for:

  • stress management
  • emotional regulation
  • mental well-being support

What’s Next

The research team highlights the importance of further studies focused on:

  • optimization of stimulation parameters
  • long-term outcomes
  • adaptive and closed-loop neuromodulation systems

At BrainPatch, we continue to invest in advancing the science behind e-Meditation® and bringing clinically grounded innovation to everyday mental well-being.
