EMOTIV has published an Ubuntu beta of its Launcher, a single-sign-on hub for the company’s EEG headsets and applications. The company says the Launcher centralizes access to its software ecosystem and device controls on Linux.
The Launcher uses one login to launch EMOTIV apps, check license status, and notify users of updates. EMOTIV lists features for developers and researchers, including raw EEG capture, access to its Performance Metrics (decoded brain-state measures), and a cloud-based post-processing analyzer.
The software also integrates EMOTIV’s consumer and developer tools: EmotivLABS games, BCI control for external devices, and BrainViz 3D visualization for education. EMOTIV says the Launcher supports building and running custom experiments from the interface.
Device management features are included. The Launcher displays live headset battery and contact-quality information, lets users rename headsets, and shows connection state for Bluetooth or USB receiver dongle. It also reports sample-rate and motion-rate details, the company says.
EMOTIV bundles a Virtual Brainwear simulator with the Launcher. The simulator can emulate headset states and data streams for testing applications. EMOTIV describes controls to pick simulation sources, choose contact-quality states, and preview detections such as performance metrics, mental commands, and facial-expression events.
The listing identifies this build as an Ubuntu beta but does not specify compatible Ubuntu versions or a release timetable. Interested users should consult EMOTIV’s download or product pages for installation details and system requirements.
